AuthValues is a political test made for people who support an Authoritarian government. It seeks to identify the positions and values of Authoritarians. If you are a Libertarian, this quiz is obviously not made for you, but you can try taking it anyways. You will be presented with a statement, and then you will answer with your opinion on the statement, from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree, with each answer slightly affecting your scores.
There are 8 Independent Axes - each one of them with 2 opposing values assigned, each representing a different viewpoint. These values are:
Autocracy (Power Balance)
Those with higher Autocracy scores believe that the power should be somewhat concentrated towards a single person. They tend to favour an Absolute Monarchy over a democracy or a republic.
Oligarchy (Power Balance)
Those with higher Oligarchy scores tend to support a government lead by many, with the power being spread-out with checks-and-balances or bureacracy. They tend to be more supportive, or at least less resentful towards a representative democracy.
Socialist (Economy)
Those with higher Socialist scores tend to prefer Socialism (the worker ownership of the means of production) over Capitalism (Private ownership and free trade for profit). They tend to be more left-leaning on economic issues, and tend to support a socialization or nationalization of various services. They also tend to oppose Capitalism as a whole.
Capitalist (Economy)
Those with higher Socialist scores tend to prefer Capitalism (Private ownership and free trade for profit) over Socialism (the worker ownership of the means of production). They tend to be more right-leaning on economic issues, and tend to suppport privatization and oppose welfare. They also tend to oppose economic theories like Marxism or Socialism.
Populism (Approach)
Those with higher Populism scores believe that the government should win people's support in order to get power. They tend to support a more democratic process in electing a leader.
Elitism (Approach)
Those with higher Elitism scores believe that the leader should belong to an elite that is seperated from the populance. They tend to trust the people less, and could sometimes support some form of oppression, such as limitations on the freedom of speech. They tend to be radical authoritarians.
Deterrence (Crime)
Those with higher Deterrence scores believe that the law should be upholded by making an example out of those break the law and making the possible consequences outweigh the possible benefits
Prevention (Crime)
Those with higher Prevention scores believe that people should sacrifice privacy and freedom in exchange for security measures that increases the chances of getting caught. They tend to support government surveillance, as well as stricter laws.
Uniform (Culture)
Those with higher Uniform scores believe that the populance should have a uniform culture and way of life. They tend to be more traditionalist, and might support a mandate or an encouragement on certain beliefs.
Diverse (Culture)
Those with higher Diverse scores believe that the government should allow diversity by giving many choices of ways to live to the people. They tend to be moderate authoritarians, and might agree with certain libertarian values.
Irreligion (Religion)
Those with higher Irereligion scores are highly skeptical of religion, and believes that society is better off without it. They tend to support government policies that discourage or prohibit certain religious beliefs and practices.
Theocracy (Religion)
Those with higher Theocracy scores are generally supportive of religion. They believe that religion creates a moral society, and wish to use the government to encourage or mandate belief in a deity.
Hereditary (Leader)
Those with higher Hereditary scores believe that the leader should be a relative of the previous leader. They tend to support a leader that is 'pure'.
Best-Suited (Leader)
Those with higher Best-suited scores believe that the leader should be a person who is suited for the job, regardless of their wealth, family, etc. They tend to support some degree of Noocracy.
Auth Unity (Cooperation)
Those with higher Auth-Unity scores believe that authoritarians should work toghether for a common goal. They tend to be less resentful towards other authoritarians with different economic and/or cultural beliefs.
Disunity (Cooperation)
Those with higher Disunity scores believe that different authoritarians simply disagree on too many issues. They think that Leftist Authoritarians cannot work with Rightist Authoritarians, and/or vice versa.
